Monte Faedo
The Faedo stronghold
The communication road running behind the Ortogonale 1 strategical line enters the Roccolo di Rossato Pass, in the Faedo Plateau. Two more military roads, on Mt. Casaron and along the Lore valley, featuring several cave shelters, enabled the delivery of supplies to the front line.
The valley was protected to the north and the east thanks to the area’s mountain relieves, and could host many soldiers and a large number of weapons and materials.
The cannons of the 47th battery of the Siege Artillery (which could benefit from a large ammunition depot) could bomb the Malo Plain and the hillside between the crestline and the line of the plain to the north. The Mt. Grande and Mt. Casaron stations and lookout posts overlooked the Priabona Pass, a dangerous access way to the low Agno valley and the Verona region.
